All of our traditional leather leashes and collars are made with latigo leather. We’ve sourced leather from all over the country looking for the highest quality and the best of the best. We landed with a supplier just south of the Canadian border.  A little mom and pop shop who pays attention to detail and has some of the highest quality latigo leather available.

Why latigo? Latigo leather uses two tanning methods called vegetable and chrome tanning. By using both tanning methods, latigo leather is both durable and pliable, making it suitable for rigorous activities and applications with rough usage.  It is resistant to moisture and sweat, due to the high amounts of oil it is infused with during the tanning process. It is not stretchy and goes from rigid to supple and soft in a short time.  Our leathers are also struck through.  This means they are the same color all the way through the collar or leash. We don’t use edge dye to match the outer leather color, it’s already there with this specific tanning process. Why is this such a big deal?  Simple…  If your leather gets an imperfection (scratch etc.), it will most likely be almost invisible.  This was another requirement we wanted when selecting our leather hides. Struck-through latigo is definitely more expensive due to the more-involved tanning process, which requires more steps, but this is where we stand out, we wanted the best, so we could offer you the best!
